Soldier On

Poetry

Though we might be in two different worlds, I still feel your presence echoing through me. When I can’t see you, I know you’re still there, watching, waiting for the next time we will meet. I’m comforted by these thoughts, these feelings, because, in the end I know I’m not alone. I’m still alive. And that’s reason enough to soldier on.

      1. I’m wondering where you are going with this. I’m happily married. Yet my upbringing involved my entire childhood and most of my teenage years dealing with every kind of abuse you can fathom, on a daily basis. There’s always a feeling that I might end up alone, as I was promised I would. But I trust my loved ones. And no, I’m not temperamental. I’m usually a jumble of nerves, fears, and anxieties, with physical pain mixed in.

  1. Thank you for the great verse and the introduction to the video! I think we all have those moments during our lives when we wonder if our souls mate is out there, still hidden from our view, longing for us as much as we are longing for them. Waiting for fate to intervene and allow our paths to cross. This could easily capture those moments or any long distance relationship I have been in. Beautiful work as always.

  2. I just listened to the song you based this on and whoa! You elevated it to a whole different level in the best possible way.

I like that your take could be interpreted so many ways, including a couple separated because he’s a soldier in the Middle East and she’s back here in the States. 🙂
