Let Them See

Poetry

We don’t have to hide away our flaws
like they deserve to be kept in the dark.

They make us real. They show that we’ve lived, despite everything that’s happened. They are war wounds, badges of survival. Let them see the light.

  1. We are only as strong as we allow the world to see, physical strength is nothing compared to the strength of our inner selves. If that strength could be displayed as muscles underneath flesh, many of the true survivors would be giants among us all.

  2. Yes Sarah, neither hidden nor promoted, part of what makes us who we are.
Always admire your writing, always left feeling challenged and changed, Please, never stop.

  3. Good point, Sarah, but too many in this “entitled” society have gone in the opposite direction: flaunting their flaws, or worse, foisting them on others as if being “flawed” gave a certain authority or right over the less flawed. If I have a choice in the matter, I keep my flaws to myself, quietly working on them from a place of self-empowerment. There’s a reason they’re called flaws… 🙂
