Wake

Poetry

You thought so much of yourself that any bridges you crossed, you didn’t care that you weren’t just burning them behind you. You burned everyone you ever loved in your wake right along with them.

  1. Howdy just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the images
aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show
    the same results.

  2. This poem hit close to home for me: In an effort to correct past mistakes, I accidentally burned bridges.

Thank you for this poem. I feel I needed to hear words like the ones you wrote.

      1. Oh, it didn’t strike a negative chord at all.

The thoughts it brought up were unpleasant, but at the same time they were thoughts I needed to have brought up.

I need to face my inner demons, and this post helped me to continue to do that.

  3. he/she shall have no one to love him/her when he/she has no more bridges to cross and burn. i like the irony in, “You burned everyone you ever loved …” could it be his anger comes from unrequited love. but what I like most about this piece is the separation of the ‘bridges’ from everyone he/she ever loved. brilliant.
