Scented

Poetry

scented final

The wood fire was my solace. It was darkness and flickering orange flames, the crackling wood as the moisture popped and fizzled — but it was the smell. I remember the smell of home.

  1. Now it’s my turn to say WOW! Really wow, Sarah. In just few words, you’ve painted a story. Memories of the past came to life with this piece. So wonderfully done. ❤

  2. I agree with most of what was said before me. You somehow managed to capture the smell of a woodfire within your words. Like an old “nose” bottled perfume back in the day. Your words are magical. Very good work. Keep it up!!

  3. You’ve captured the sensations of a camp/bonfire so incredibly well. I can almost hear it…but you’re right, it is the smell that sticks with you. One of the best things I’ve read in a while!
