Lullaby

He plucked the strings
of my heart with careful
precision, knowing exactly
what notes to strike.
And I was caught in his lullaby.

Safe Keeping

I handed my heart
to the moon
for safe keeping,
knowing she was the one
that could protect it at all costs.

Movement

A matrix of letters
and images scroll
through my mind,
like a movie playing
in slow motion.
It’s not just images I see.
It’s moving poetry.

Late Night Companion

Via @emberwolves

I can feel your heart beating
as I run my fingers
over your soft fur.
My breathing in sync
with yours, inhaling your scent
at every inhalation to
calm my frazzled nerves.
As serenity finally washes
over me, we doze off together.

Enchanted

I felt the air thicken
with humidity as electricity
crawled up my arm,
setting my nerve endings
on fire. By the time it faded,
I was already enchanted.

Slumber

Your body heat warmed me
in the cool, crisp air
that surrounded us
in the forest. We slept
there together, beneath
the moon, and felt peace.

Serenades

The sound of his voice
was like nothing I ever
heard before. Its deep
resonance was soothing
as he sang in soft tones.
It calmed my jittery
nerves in seconds.

Sepia

I was standing in an alley lit by that same eerie sepia light. Like the sun was permanently at the cusp of twilight, just setting over the horizon. Deep shadows cast over everything and even the bits of trash that littered the dirty street looked devoid of most of their color.

The Spirit Realm.

Tides

The ink ebbs like a tide dictated by the moon, flowing through my veins, begging to be purged. As the levee breaks, spilling my blood upon a blank page, the tension that gathered in my body and mind releases. At long last, I feel a bit of peace. And it is the most satisfying feeling in the world.
