Give and take.

Little Red. That was what Vlad called me.

Not Zoe. Little Red. He never used my name and I didn’t know why. I didn’t know which was worse, the nickname itself, or the way it sounded as it rolled off his tongue. Like proverbial final nails in the coffin, his low voice and ancient Romanian accent only made it sound better to my ears.

My attraction to him went beyond logic and reason. Especially when I knew it was one-sided. I was a woman and he found my body attractive at times. There was nothing more to it. And yet, it seemed everything he did drew me to him like oxygen to a wildfire.
