Something New

“And the night we met, it didn’t take me long
to realize you were the love I was searching for.”

I spent my life looking for faces in a faceless crowd, unsure of what I was seeking. There was a familiar tinge of anxiety in the air and I could taste it on my tongue like rusty metal. When we spoke, there were no fireworks. No shouts sounding off in my head, saying, “That’s the one!” It was a slow build, you see. With every passing hour, I knew you were unlike any person I’d ever met. It was the start of something new. Something I never imagined. And the night we met, it didn’t take me long to realize you were the love I was searching for.

If this is a dream,
I don’t ever want
to wake up.
