Lost But Found

“You remind me that not all is lost.
Because with you, I am found.”

Sometimes I think of the past when I’m looking up at the stars. How they shimmer with hope. How many of them are no longer shining today, because, really, all I’m looking at are memories. Maybe it’s the memories haunting me, and the stars are just reminding me that they’re there. No matter how far I try to run from them. Good or bad. They happened. They existed. And though they may be finished, echoes of them remain.

That’s what I think about when I look up into the night sky and think about you. That’s what I think about when I see you sleeping next to me, bathed in moonlight. I think about how you lit up my life. I think about how you made survival worth it. How you gave me hope. Just like the stars.

And even when I think there’s no hope left for me, because of my past, you are there to remind me that not all is lost. That I am found. With you. Always with you.
