The State Of Things

Poetry, Random Thoughts, Updates

“Here’s the thing: I’m not okay.
I haven’t been for some time.”

Here’s the thing: I’m not okay. I haven’t been for some time. And it seems that it’s only been getting worse as the days go by. I am at a loss for what I should do. Let me restate that. I know what I should be doing, but I cannot seem to force myself to do it. Instead, I’m seeking reprieve from life in something I never thought I’d enjoy instead of writing out my thoughts and really doing the thing that has always helped me — write. Yet here I am. Not writing. Well, I’m writing this little update, it’s been years since I’ve written fiction with any substantial amount of time. And I honestly don’t know if or when I’ll be able to snap out of this funk and just do it.

So that’s where I am. Don’t give up on me yet. I haven’t admitted defeat.

  1. I too have been missing the muse for a longer time than I care to consider. Sure, I write a load of crap on my blog, but that’s not the same as creative fiction, which I once enjoyed but now seem to have lost the knack of. Ho hum… just sympathising with you. Hang in there, keep on trying 🙂

    1. I do apologize for my absence. I’ve missed your posts terribly. I hope to carve out a dedicated time every day to reconnect with people and read, which is one of the primary things that helps me aside from writing. Thank you for the kind words and for being here despite my sporadic attendance.

  2. I think that there is a natural ebb and flow of creative juices, if you will, for writers and such and perhaps this funk you’re in will pass without too much injury to your soul and your inspiration. Let us always hope for the best my dear.

    1. I agree, however my time away hasn’t just spanned weeks or months, my daily writing has suffered for the better part of a year and that isn’t even close to where my fiction ended. I do hope the end is near and that everything will return to normal. Thank you for the kind words and well wishes.
