Beyond My Reach

“I don’t know if I can show you
just how much I need you.”

It kills me, late at night, when you’re just beyond my reach, that I cannot force myself to move into your arms. To seek comfort in your embrace and just listen to your slow, steady breathing. To the beating of your heart.

Even if you were right next to me, I don’t know if I could show you just how much I need you.

How can I tell you what I need
when my mouth refuses to speak?
