Missing Pieces

“You were my soul’s missing piece.
And maybe that’s the hardest part. Our ending.”

I’ve been holding my breath for so long, I’ve forgotten what it’s like to feel air in my lungs. I’ve cried so much, I’ve forgotten what it’s like to feel the rain. That’s what this ache in my chest feels like — it’s a chasm. One you filled when I didn’t even know it was empty. One that emptied again when you left. Like you were my soul’s missing piece. And maybe that’s the hardest part. I never saw it coming. Our ending. You will always be the love of my life. I just wish I knew how to tell you when it would’ve mattered.

Don’t make the mistake of waiting
until it’s too late.
