Breathing At Last

“I never expected to fall in love.
But there you were,
and I could breathe at last.”

When you first walked into view, there was something I felt that I couldn’t name. It was as if I was hit with an electric shock. Like I could breathe air — true oxygen — for the first time in my life. I never expected such an instantaneous response to a stranger. I never expected to feel something so exhilarating. I never expected to fall in love. But there you were, and I could breathe at last.

I could breathe
at last.
