A Line Drawn

“And this is where I stop.
To take you off my weary shoulders,
and let you go.”

This is where I stop. To take a breath, and once again know what oxygen feels like when it fills my lungs. This is where I stop. To silence my worried thoughts, and instead listen to the sounds of the rain landing on the roof. This is where I stop. To let you go, and understand what it means to not wonder what might await me. This is where I stop. To remind myself that it was not my fault. And this is where I stop. To take the weight of you off my weary shoulders, and at last, be free from you.
