The Hunger

“I felt the hunger that crawled
beneath your skin like a fever.
And darling, I wanted you too.”

I saw the look in your eyes, locked with mine, as if you were a lion stalking your prey. And maybe that’s what you were doing. I could feel the hunger that crawled beneath your skin like a fever. I could feel it radiating off you like the beating of a drum. My heart responded instantly. Quickening its pace in anticipation of you. My body awakened from its slumber in the next instant. In that moment, all I wanted was you.

And those eyes. Those eyes of yours. They saw right through me. They read my soul like it was an open book. Somehow, I didn’t mind, because it meant I could read yours too.

Those haunting eyes of yours
were burned into my memory.

This was written for day twenty-nine
of November Notes.
