Are You Man Enough

Poetry

“The moment we met face to face,
I knew only one of us
would make it out alive.”

The moment we met face to face, I knew only one of us would make it out alive. It was me against the monster, the monster against his trained puppet. Did she manage to crawl her way out of the darkness and stand on her two feet again? I’m sure that came as a surprise to you. You thought you broke me. You thought I couldn’t stand my ground. But here I am, ready to face you. Ready to die than to ever submit again. So let’s get this done.

Are you man enough to take me on
now that I have a backbone?

    1. Yes indeed she was. I’ve always imagined what it might be like if I were ever able to face my abuser (I can’t since he’s dead), and this way what I would hope would come of it. Not a cowering and scared little girl, but a woman standing firm. 😊
