Time To Move On

“We were always meant to say goodbye
to what we could have been.
Because we are better off as friends.”

I think back and I remember all the dreams we shared. I remember all the fights, the debates, the passion between us. I remember how you were my home, even though you were miles away. And I always thought the road we took would bring us together. But life had other plans for us. I don’t think a day will ever go by that I won’t think about us and what we were, or wonder what you’re doing in that moment, but you deserve to move on. You deserve happiness. I hope it finds you. I wish nothing but the best for you, because you are my soulmate — one hell of a friend. Better than I deserve.

We were always meant to say goodbye to what we could have been. Because we are better off as friends.

  1. This a truly wonderful post Sarah! Loved the heart to heart with oneself and the realization of the truth – loved the line – “We were always meant to say goodbye to what we could have been. Because we are better off as friends.” Bravo, Sarah, Bravo!!!

  2. I like how the ending noted the spirit of the two lives on….
this is such an encouraging reminder and highlights how the future will be different but the memories and former connectedness will linger and have its place

  3. I agree 100% with you. I had the same type of relationship. I’m coming to the conclusion she and I are better off as friends. ❤ …Surprising to know, though, how much I still love her. But our paths, which may cross again somewhere, somehow, just weren't meant to be intertwined. Not as lovers anyway.
