Letting Go

“I know that you are gone.
And I wish I knew how to let you go.”

My thoughts drift to you. High in the air, like they’re floating through clouds. Hoping to find you there, waiting to catch them. I wonder if you’re up there. Watching. But I know you’re not.

I know that you are gone. But yet I let my mind wander. I let my heart believe, if only for a night, that everything is as it was. And I wish I knew how to let you go.
