Replace those broken pieces of your heart with fragments of obsidian stone. Label each shard with the beautiful parts of you. That way, when the moon shines down, the ghost of your heart will be filled with a soft blue glow that refracts nothing but you and your beauty.

This piece is so beautiful and really soothing.
I just wrote a post on self-worth myself, have a look if you want. https://opinionatedhead.com/2017/08/21/self-worth%E2%80%8B-how-not-to-measure-it/

This is gorgeous writing! Masterful job.
And for the record, I love the word “obsidian”. It’s one of those words that invites the saying it out loud.

I couldn’t agree more! I love to use it, not only as it’s name – a volcanic rock, but as a color – a deep black, almost infinite. I find power in the word.😊 I’m glad you like it! 😊

How do you love what everyone taught you to hate? For me self love would be denial…fooling myself.

If everyone taught you to hate something they shouldn’t have, then it’ll take time, but you should make an effort to relearn what is loveable and what isn’t — by your own definition. You wouldn’t be fooling yourself or be in denial at that point. You be making a conscious decision to do otherwise.

This is beautiful ❤ I love how your poetry is often themed on the moon. Your words – both in this piece and others – sum up the wonders of it perfectly. It's something people often take for granted but it's such a constant presence in our lives. It's watched over us from the moment we took our first breath and holds such power over us and the world around us. I enjoy how you demonstrate this through your poetry ❤

Aww thank you so much! It was actually inspired by a blogging friend, who gave me one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. It wasn’t this exactly, but she referred to using moonstones so I wouldn’t need wings to fly. 😊😊💖
