Oh… now that’s a tragic question to pose. A friend distanced by land or commitments but will that yearning be just that. Will spending time together be as good as you thought it would be. would you drift because the yearning is so intense that the meeting pales in comparison.
I would hate that. I don’t think I could live and love properly if this were to come to pass.
Beautifully crafted question but heartbreaking concept.
It’s a scary realisation that I hope never to have. I mostly lose people cause they’re done with me.
I might not have many people in my life but I work to keep them.
Rhetorical question, isn’t it. Of course you would handle it. It’s all a matter of shifting the label “best friend” away from that which fell apart and saving it for the next go-round.
Yeah, I did that on purpose. It allows for more interpretation if people notice it. Kind of like Bokeh. I initially had the period at the end of the first line as a typo, but I actually liked the way it broke up the thought. 😊
We might ask ‘what if’ forever! The only inevitability is that what we choose to do becomes a part of our learning and self-discovery. Revel in uncertainty! I enjoyed reading this Sarah, thanks again 🙂
Time is always a question we can’t answer. What if something (like death) separates us? I’m not sure what I would do, but I do know that it was worth it. 😊 Thank you!
Awesome!

I agree. There’s so many variables involved, many of which point to losing that person.

That’s all we can do.

Work to keep ’em? I work to lose ’em and they keep coming back! Maybe that “what you resists, persists” does work after all – who’d a thunked it!

Hahaha, so true. Sometimes it feels like I push my husband away too, but I don’t do it on purpose. 😆😆

Nah! I only write happy endings, remember? Even when it is not forever, the experience counts.

Yes, exactly. What happens, happens, and we deal as best we can when we must. 💖

I once lost my best friend. But I gained a new one. A better one. Still, I’m haunted…

I love how you broke the lines in this one. Especially:
“What if this yearning
for more turns
into a lie?”
I like how “for more turns” almost gives it a different meaning. Like it’s a yearning for more turns to try again and again. 😀 Maybe it’s just me.

I noticed that too. I liked how that period made that first line stand on its own. 🙂

Yeah, I might change it to an em dash or something, because it does leave the next two lines incomplete. I’m still tossing that around.

Yes, that was one of the questions my husband asked me. Ultimately, he convinced me to try and I couldn’t be happier. 😊

Can you handle the fallout of gaining more than you can possibly imagine?

That’s exactly what my husband told me back then. It’s what made me take the chance. It will be 15 years in May since he convinced me to try. 😊😊
