Excellent Sarah. I love the comparison to photography where we can play with our colour and shades on a daily basis and only let people see what we want them to see.
I like how you put a period at the end of the first line, like that line without the second was its own declarative in need of its own period. Also this is way more optimistic than most you see on wordpress nowadays so thanks!
I was wondering if anyone would notice that. I originally added it by mistake, but I liked the way it let the first line stand apart. It may not be grammatically correct, leaving the second and third lines as an incomplete sentence, but it seemed to fit better with the overall piece. Thank you for the kind words!
This poem reminds me of myself in many ways. The imagery of light and keeping something safe within my heart – all touching thoughts. Thank you for sharing!
And, for some reason, my mind just keeps going back to this line: “shrouded by an oblivion of darkness.” I like the sound of it and I’m not even that sure why. 😀
I took a long time off from writing literary reviews, so it’s nice to see work I haven’t discovered yet. Remember, you haven’t failed as a writer until the day you stop writing.
That’s exactly right. I refuse to stop, not just as a victory against my childhood abuse, but for me. I genuinely enjoy it and love it. I can’t imagine my life without it. 😊
Firstly, thank you because I learned a new work. I was not familiar with “bokeh,” and now, I am. Secondly, “the bits of light that remain are kept safe in my heart,” simply exquisite, Sarah.
As they should be. The light is always easiest to see in the dark. The problem with the dark is it’s easy to close your eyes ans forget to open them

Bokeh is such a cool word.

Haha, yeah, that’s sort of my metaphor for being in a state of suspension, like you’re floating in outer space without the need for a suit.

Your such an affluent writer. Your topics and prose are so beautiful, with few words, but boy they make a staggering impact.

Awww thank you! I love adding that subtle effect in my book covers, so it gave me the idea to make a little poem out of it. 😊😊
