Smog

I saw you there,
twinkling in
the distance
like a long-forgotten
star in a city night.

  1. I can’t imagine what it would be like to live in a city so big and so bright that you can’t see the stars at night. I think I would feel very strange, with nothing up there to remind me of how small and unimportant I am.

Or, that was the first thought that crossed my mind when I read your poem!

    1. Yes, exactly. I don’t live in the heart of a city, but I’m close enough that I don’t see many stars. There’s Venus and maybe Mars, which don’t count, but I’m not able to see much else. Its a strange feeling, knowing they’re there, but unseen.
