Afterthought

I’m alive in your afterthought,
memorialized for an instant
before your mind awakens
and forgets me once more.

  1. to be an afterthought is someone’s waking moments is bad enough, to be an afterthought in the person’s dreams is real sad. the only way you can ever find out if you matter is if the person talks in his/her sleep – it’s never a good sign to be awake beside a sleeping lover if all that keeps you awake is a chance to him/her talk about you in his/her sleep. brilliant capture of what sadness means.

  2. Whoa, do you really want to see a grown man cry?;) Your words are achingly beautiful . You make every single word count in your prose, and that is what makes a truly good poet. Kudos to you and your emotive verses 🙂

  3. You do ‘sad’ so well it makes me happy. You have the voice of deep within you, that first line totally bewitches me. Awesome work my clever friend, I love this one.
