My fears kept me silent, my vulnerability too intense to reveal, and I wanted to tell you how much I needed you. Loved you. Wanted you. Now I’m here, in the aftermath of you, and all you were. I will forever regret not having enough bravery to show you that my walls were cracked and open, inviting you in with a door built only for you. But now it’s all too late.

I apologize for the delay. For some reason, WordPress decided to place you in my spam folder (it happens all the time). I’ve recently added an email sign up at the bottom of my site. For rss, you should be able to add my site address to your reader. 😊

“Now I’m here, in the aftermath of you, and all you were.”
Stands by itself. Almost a torch ballad, most of a novel, all of a great line.

a nice reminder to all creatives – write that song, poem or draw that picture to the one you have feelings for while they are still around rather than writing them after – for the benefits of those who know their worth but can’t create. nice

Exactly. We often don’t appreciate what we have until they’re gone.

Echoing Joni Mitchell? ” you don’t know what you’ve got ‘Till it’s gone. They paved paradise. And they put up a parking lot.” Just being silly…

Actually, that’s a very accurate parallel to what I was saying. 😊

I do like Christina Perri. She has a great voice. By the way, thus resonates with me. There’s a lot of regret in my heart.

I think in some way we all carry regrets. Thank you for the kind words!

I liked this work as is, but I wanted to add that your line “Now I’m here, in the aftermath of you, and all you were” taken out of the intended romantic context could be the start of a whole other relationship piece. As usual, your writing is evocative including and past the intent.

Call me jaded but if he couldn’t sense her desire, she’s better off without the dolt. There, now I’ve done and stuck my foot in it, haven’t I!

Not sure why the link button is acting up, it used to show the person you linked with, and a click button so others visiting (my) site for eg. could go to yours, now it reprints the article instead which makes no sense whatsoever. It’s YOUR article. Don’t understand! So sorry! did not mean for this to happen. Either word press is broken, since this has happened with 3 sites I wanted to link with, or I messed up. argh!
