Icy water trickled across your skin,
forcing goosebumps to erupt
and tingles to wash over you.
A small grin spread across my lips,
and I dared your burning gaze
to let the world go and allow
yourself to be swept away.

This is awesome. Where do you find such perfect images?

When I’ve written a piece, I just have an idea of what I’m going to look for. I have a list of photographers I have befriended and I know their styles well. So usually I know which photographer to look for. 😊

Ah so I must add make friends with photographers to my to do list. Gotcha! Thank you!

Haha, yes. I just reached out, said I liked their work, and wanted to know if I could share Usually they’re very willing as long as you credit them. 😊

contrast between “icy water” and “burning gaze” nice. reminds me of the paradox of divesting your clothes in the final throes of hypothermia.

One of things I love the most about these types of short pieces is how evocative the language is while still maintaining mystery and ambiguity. I love to be intrigued at the end of a piece.

Reblogged this on John Cowgill's Literature Site and commented:

This one intrigues me. There are at least two ways to interpret this: the MC is drowning someone and/or the MC is spying on someone bathing/swimming in a wild river

Wow, I like those interpretations. I was actually envisioning it to be a more metaphorical or theoretical, sensual experience. 😊 😊 😊
