Perfect Strangers

We were over before we began,
and my heart broke when I saw
it in your eyes the moment
you realized it too.
Maybe we could have lasted,
maybe we were supposed to be,
but in the end,
that was wasn’t enough.

    fear deep within stayed
    separation was a negative thought
    trust no more was strength
    faith lost its value
    love lost its color
    feelings changed
    we changed
    all got over
