Reality

Poetry

I stared into that white
wall for so long,
I began to see words,
faces, and motion.
But no one seemed
to notice, let alone care,
that my wall was more
of a reality to me than
anything else ever was.

    1. They’re little prompts I run with. I list them at the bottom. 😊 the title reminded me of The Yellow Room and how in the old Victorian era, men used to lock away their ‘disappointments’, typically making them mad if they weren’t already.

      1. Practice. I took an idea and wrote it out, and then I edited, talking away words that were excessive, swapping for others that had more impact, and did it without taking away the actual intended meaning or effect. It took about a year to figure it out and now it’s not so difficult. 😊 I’ll have a look and give you my thoughts.

      1. always welcome, love!
BTW, i would like to ask you if you know an IG writing challenge or prompt aside from your lovely Piccadilly prompt. 🙂 I would love to join those where you will join. 😉 (sorry, i’m a bit clingy. haha)

  1. you’ve reached your brink when writings appear on the walls. but like this piece underlines, the most disorienting feeling is the neglect of the plea, “my madness is real.” i like the dual imagery of innocence and mental disorientation that white connotes in this piece. well done, Sarah.
