I was born to love you, I know that now.
After everything that brought us
to this point, you were the one
I prayed for when I was little,
cursed, lost, broken, and unworthy.
You were my knight, just a few decades late.

She came in my life 12 years ago and unknown to me she would believe in the nothing I was and be powerful enough to outlast my jails, alcoholism, violent temper, and hate of myself to believe in me enough that I began to believe in me. Her spirit and no bull attitude is why I am many years sober and a totally different person.

Ah, it’s a young adult book. It’s called Splintered. In the book, the main character is always referring to her knights. She has two guys who like her. One is human, and the other one is from Wonderland.

I’m reminded of an online text based roleplaying game I used to play, where my impressionable young man met a older, female knight, fell in love with her, and decided that he would become the youngest knight in history and would propose to her upon his knighting.

That’s lovely. I think games are often underrated, because of the stories they tell. Thank you for sharing! 😊

I completely agree. There are some fantastic stories to be found in some of the games out there. I know many of them that still stick in my mind.
This one was the kind where the players wrote their own stories. It’s fantastic. I still have some of the logs of the stories we wrote back then.
