Purple Bloom

My branches are too weary
to carry the weight of tragedy,
and as I sag toward the ground,
losing sight of the beauty
in the world, covered beneath
an empty landscape of white,
a tiny purple bloom awakens
me from my slumber
and I’m reminded that
life is always worth a little pain.
