Nice piece! I love the Dylan Thomas reference – he is one of my favourite poets…”Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” π Thanks for sharing and visiting my pace
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and read! I love that poem, and the title came to mind after I wrote this. It seemed reminiscent of Thomas’s poem and the title suited it. π
Ironic how it is people will leave when things “go sour” or aren’t what they seem to be? And the ones most in need are left to fend for themselves, when they are most vulnerable. Totally sucks. But great piece of writing.
Mine insists on turning post into list too…I’m thinking maybe I should take note of all the words it changes lest there be some subliminal hidden message indicating my iPad is not self aware π€
Hahaha, that would be weird. Just for fun I used my autocorrect to predict my words, and it was actually pretty surprising what it said. So I suppose it is possible.
No kidding….I’m torn between Terminator and Ex Machina….neither outcome is pretty…I might have to pursue this to decide if mine is friendly or not π±
Especially if you consider it would already know the caveat questions and to answer them without doing a reveal…let’s face it, their database of knowledge is us…not sure how an AI would think if that !!!!
Too right…it’s bad enough coming out of a hole and using mindfulness to appear in the moment and be self aware myself….can’t imagine how an AI would cope π±
True. Mindfulness is a tricky thing, especially when you’re already overwhelmed. An AI who is self aware and mindful of what the world is and needs, it could take it upon itself to make things right.
It was. But it’s also been covered in other forms of media. The 100 television show revealed a self aware AI was responsible for the destruction of the world. I haven’t read the books yet, so I don’t know how true they stayed to the original story.
My personal favourite was Ex Machina…unite dark that and it kind of how I can envisage an AI not enjoying being a lab rat. We don’t so why would they? Scary stuff really π»
Bit like the film Contact…at least I think it’s that….mentioned the nearest star system and the first radio transmission they might receive. Hitlers inaugural speech at the 1936 Olympic Games….first impressions and all that π€
True indeed….but that means what followed subsequentky shows out planet in a very bad light…imagine receiving that as first impressions of a new works…scary stuff
No, do not go gentle into that goodnight π Lovely arrangement here with it!

It is odd, and not right at all. But it happens all too often.

Hahaha, yes I understand. Autocorrect hates us and slips in sneak attacks when we least expect them.

Indeed it could…wasn’t that the Terminator premise π± Mind you I can envisage two novella ideas on this one already π€

True, but if I remember right, there was no rhetoric against the Jewish community in that speech.
