Consecration

Poetry

These bones, ripped from the bodies of the innocent, lay before me, bleached by the sun and trapped in this world upon unconsecrated ground, will find no peace until The One returns with the ashes of their destructors. Only then will the ground be consecrated and their languid souls be purged from this earthly plain.

    1. For the month of May I’ve been doing prompts based upon book titles. The pieces can be inspired by the content, the title itself, or just using the title as a spring board for something new. I’ve read the book and seen the movie, but this piece was just written with a pile of bones in mind. 😊

      1. Usually what I write are prose poems, as I don’t typically follow any kind of set structure, such as haiku. This particular story, told in a prose poem, required a little bit more depth than my usual pieces, which are often shorter and sometimes considered micropoetry.
