Long Since

This lighthouse long since
fell into darkness. Forgotten,
rotting beneath the sea spray, no one
laments its passing, nor do they
remember the beautiful beacon
it shone, once upon a time.

  1. I liked your lighthouse post a lot! I live in Michigan which has many still active lighthouses and I’ve enjoyed taking lighthouse tours, mostly on the Lake Huron side, with family and friends. Some of the non-active lighthouses have been turned into museums but they seem sad that they are not functioning as they once did…and that’s why your post was so meaningful to me. Thank you, Sarah, it was very moving and touching. Perhaps you might enjoy as well a poem I wrote a while ago about lighthouses: https://jeneanebehmeswritings.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/i-am-like-a-lighthouse/
