Lay me down in this grave
you’ve dug just for me
and bury me beneath
six feet of earth
without a string
attached to a bell
as a cry for help
to save my wretched soul.

Very beautiful, and visually pleasing in its structure.

I like the irony of the name – it is a cry in the graveyard and yet this graveyard is utterly silent.

Good. Writing is often a great way to increase self knowledge. Do you ever reread your writings much later and learn something about yourself you didn’t know?

I often look back and sometimes realize how far I’ve come in evolving and growing. That’s always a good thing.

This has a Poe-like quality in a bell to prevent live interment. Nice!

That was what I was thinking of when I wrote this. Long before, bells were once attached to buried coffins in the event that people were falsely presumed dead. I thought it was a nice touch. Bury someone alive without that bell to save them.
