Graveyard Silence

Poetry

Lay me down in this grave
you’ve dug just for me
and bury me beneath
six feet of earth
without a string
attached to a bell
as a cry for help
to save my wretched soul.

    1. That was what I was thinking of when I wrote this. Long before, bells were once attached to buried coffins in the event that people were falsely presumed dead. I thought it was a nice touch. Bury someone alive without that bell to save them.
